‘Bird racing’ at NYC park under federal scrutiny
In this June 3, 2009 photo “Bush” looks on as two male finches are encouraged to sing by putting their cages together in New York. For years, an unusual event has been held at a Queens park in the Richmond Hill neighborhood on Sunday afternoons with scant attention from outsiders. Birds whistle songs at each other, as people watch _ and keep count. The first bird to tweet a certain number of songs is considered the winner. (AP Photo/Seth Wenig)
