The Kills - U R A Fever
The Kills have been saying they gleaned inspiration for the album from children’s songs in the documentary Pizza Pizza Daddio. Still, I can see some of the same relevant attributes (repetition, simple beats) as “classic” Kills. There’s no way you would mistake U R A Fever for children’s schoolyard chants, but the influence is fun to consider.
This video provides rare documented smiles and giddiness from The Kills, possibly due to the completion of a new album? Although the presence of a small puppy in the video may be a contributing factor, according to their myspace blog, my first assumption would also be correct.
I’m behind in music news in general and missed their November 6th announcement because I never read myspace blogs. Throwing a video out there is just as good, if not a better way to let people know you have an album coming out than even being straightforward and saying it. The people like to be entertained and I think Sophie Muller did a great job.
Midnight Boom, The Kills third album, will be released on Domino in March 2008.
(technical notes: There are still a few downsides to Tumblr I’m trying to find workarounds for. For instance, I can’t display a title at the top of a video post that uses any hosting service other than Vimeo. I tried moving the caption block up, which works at the expense of not having a description/post below the video. Also, do video posts never show up on the archives page? Any suggestions?)
