Film Couch Shelved
I don’t subscribe to many podcasts, and my expectations for them have never been very high. However, I’m near giving up on Film Couch.
I continued listening to Film Couch past the continuous plugs for spout.com and their hosted web series (Butterknife actually sounds promising) because it was a good place to hear about independent films I would otherwise not know about and they sometimes have interesting points about more mainstream movies. I had planned on seeing There Will Be Blood and waited until after I had seen it to listen to Episode #52 of Film Couch because Episode #51 promised to discuss the ending. I just listened to Episode #52 which included an interview with the creators of Butterknife (another plug for their web series) and, in the place of a There Will Be Blood conclusion, a tape recorded conversation from a bar discussing the merits of Chuck and Larry to the gay community. That’s fine with me, but they admittedly sent someone to a screening of There Will Be Blood and they came back with a piece on Chuck and Larry.
With so many of them out there, I think it should be easy for me to find a better independent film podcast.
