Wild Hearts Can’t Be Broken

I loved Wild Hearts Can’t Be Broken when I was tiny. I wanted to cut my hair off and be forced to head off to school wearing boots, pajamas, and a paper bag over my head like Sonora. It was always on the Disney Channel and I watched it On Demand, commercial free the old school way; from a VHS tape that had the Disney Channel logo in the bottom right hand of the screen. I’m not sure of the circumstances, but once we rented it from Blockbuster. We didn’t realize until the first scene came on that someone had “accidentally” put David Lynch’s Wild at Heart in the wrong case. Yep.
I looked up Gabrielle Anwar to see what she’s been up to. Apparently, she had a long running role on Burn Notice and played Princess Margaret on The Tudors. I didn’t realize she played, or at least was the smell of, the title role in Scent of a Woman.
But the part I’m sure she’s the proudest of is being the girlfriend of Johnny Depp as he rides around town on the back of Tom Petty’s motorcycle in the video for Into The Great Wide Open. Had Johnny Depp’s license been suspended? I think they accidentally got footage of him knocking over all those motorcycles as a reaction to the suspended license and decided to work it into the video.
On an uncommonly (to my posts) related note, I’ll be seeing Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers tonight. Unrelatedly, Steve Winwood will be opening.
