I’ve been designing my business cards with “www.terned.com” as my URL. The first time I checked, it was available. Not so much anymore. I’m not willing to pay a broker to track down the french person who has it parked, so I’m trying to come up with an alternative.

www.ternedbyhand.com

www.ternedonline.com

www.ternedshop.com

I’m also considering throwing in an extra “n” in “Terned.” I’m not crazy about it.

Any thoughts?

look for more: branding,

I’ve been looking for a bust to use in product photos of my necklaces. I’m resigned to propping a smaller one up on a pedestal or something to give it enough height for the necklaces to hang.

I really like the display I came across on grain. It’s appropriate for the style of the necklaces and looks classy. In my major rebranding effort I’m struggling with creating something that emphasizes the sustainability aspect of what I do without taking itself too seriously. Because of that, I’m rethinking my logo. I want it to be fun and not remind people of a bowl of oatmeal. Putting sunglasses on everything might be the way to tie all my zaniness together. Ariel and Abe have inspired me to add some sunglasses to the Terned bird. That might also inspire me to finally get my prescription sunglasses.

I’ve been trying to come up with a new company/brand that can encompass the printing I hope to do as well as my jewelry. Here are some things I like about “Terned.”
Terned isn’t really a word
A Tern is a bird
I like birds
Terns are found all around the world
Terns are scrappy and make nests out of whatever they can find
phonetic association (in my mind at least) with craftsmanship words like “hewn” “turn”
